The „Ideal State” – as a manifold expression – reflects the the interest of the 2012 edition of the documenta, the dOCUMENTA(13) towards the social communities, political- and wold-systems, various states of awareness and towards the interdisciplinary approaches, and towerds the research and the study itself.
Ont he one hand, it can mean an ideal state of mind, in which one can develop and learn and can re-imagine their world, on the other hand, it means an ideal (as it were, utopistic) place, into which the city of Kassel tranforms in every five years, acutally it is also a political community which the thinkers search for for several thousands of years.
What is our relation to this ideal place/situation/state? How can we get there? How can art deal with social and political questions and what is its role in this relation? Can it add something to the changes and, if yes, how?
