The 2nd year BA Students of the Department of Art Theory and Curatorial Studies at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts cordially invite you to the exhibition opening of INSIGHT
Our exhibition focuses on questions that students of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts have been dealing with. Our aim is to present themes which have been of interest to them and genres they prefer to work in – regardless of the program they study in. Examining the early stage of an artist’s career – we mainly selected students in the 3rd and 4th years – we wish to emphasize the sometimes surprising match between the themes they have chosen. These include, for instance: personal narrative, internal and external environment, and metamorphosis of the face.
In parallel, we are also conducting research concerning the galleries and exhibition venues in Budapest that are open to working with emerging artists. The result of this research is a continuously expandable database, which we hope could serve as a useful resource for university students.

Bohózat. | Clown pages
Bohóc Oldalak (’Clown Pages’) newspaper/fanzine had been available from 2011 to 2015 in Budapest. Bohóc Oldalak (’Clown Pages’) is a jokesheet reflecting on the life, living conditions and surroundings of Ferenc Gorcsakovszki.
Who is Ferenc Gorcsakovszki? An unemployed floorer born in the 6th district, had been in jug multiple times, committed several smaller or bigger crimes, had been an alcoholic for over 10 years. However Ferenc Gorcskovszki was not an alcoholic, unemployed floorer. He was the editor of Bohóc Oldalak (’Clown Pages’), he was the Clown. Bohóc Oldalak (’Clown Pages’) is an outsanding piece of the fanzine culture of Hungary. Following an illness of one and a half years, Ferenc Gorcskovszki passed away on 6th August 2015.
On the occasion of this exhibition won through Labor Gallery’s annual open call, I (Kristóf Kovács) contacted Hungarian fanzine publishers to create alternatives to Bohóc Oldalak (’Clown Pages’), to create their own interpretations and reflections on the magazine.
These ’alternatives’ to Bohóc Oldalak (’Clown Pages’) and further objects, artworks connected to Ferenc Gorcsakovszki will be presented in the exhibition, opening on 12th November.
The exhibition will be open: 12th November – 15th November.

Two years after the last call of NemIgen csoport for works their authors did not dare to show, we kindly invite you to the first Contemporary Artists’ Reality Show of Salon de Ref Legitimational Committee.
The Reality Show hosts unwanted artworks of which their authors are ashamed or felt inadequate to share with the public.
During the 6 opening days visitors can see and judge submitted artworks, as well as join associated programmes. Related happenings attempt to discover depths of artistic self-censorhip via games and public discussions.
