Shota Demetrashvili (from Tbilisi, Georgia) is an architect and has an art group, Urban Environment Laboratory, which aims to research social, economical and political influence on urban environment. They are making among others, projects, researches, visual art, and social activities. Shota’s presentation topic is Post-soviet monumentalism in Georgia. He is presenting general information and situation about this issue and will talk about their projects too.
The lecture will be held in English. All are welcome!

Marianna Liosi (1982, Italy) works as an independent curator in Italy and abroad. Graduated in Visual Arts at IUAV (in Venice). Since 2006 she has collaborated and worked in Italian and international contemporary art institutions and non-profit organizations. She contributs as a writer at Drome magazine.

Marianna’s presentation will take place on the 25th of August, 2011, from 7 pm at Labor.

Curator Marianna Liosi (IT) is the first guest of Labor’s studio or open-space residency.
The successful applicant can use the space of LABOR for realizing projects related to visual culture. The aim of the residency is to provide a possibility for artists and curators for individual (or collective) work, introduction, and to get in contact with the Hungarian contemporary art scene. During the residency participants can use the spatial and technical facilities of LABOR (internet access, laptop), the library and the exhibition space.
